Computer viruses can be dangerous and can damage your Computer to a huge extent. It can slow down your device performance and can also delete your private data. A Computer Virus is nothing but a computer program, created to infect your system and it has the ability to replicate and create multiple copies of itself.  Also, Hackers do create their own viruses by writing codes and make them malicious. WannaCry RansomWare was a recent example of this which encrypted users data and asked them to pay for their data to be decrypted. Some viruses are created by pranksters just to play with it while some may be dangerous. In this post, we have listed down some of the Most Dangerous Computer Viruses of all Time.

1. ILOVEYOUMost Dangerous Computer Viruses

ILOVEYOU was a computer worm that attacked more than 10 million users in the year 2000 and comes first in our list of Most Dangerous Computer Viruses. It spread as an email message with subject ILOVEYOU. The email contained an attachment as “LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.txt.vbs”.  The .vbs extension was hidden by the Windows OS and it looked like a normal .txt file. When the users clicked on the file, Visual Script was activated and the worm infected the local machine by overwriting random types of files.  After rewriting the files, the worn has the ability to forward itself to all the contacts in the victim’s address book. This computer virus was programmed by two Programmers from Flipino named Reonel Ramones, and Onel de Guzman.

2. MYDOOMMost Dangerous Computer Viruses

Mydoom is a computer worm developed to attack Microsoft Windows and became popular in the year 2004. This worm spread via emails with states  “andy; I’m just doing my job, nothing personal, sorry.” When the victim opens the mail, the malicious downloads automatically and then steal the users email contacts detail. MYDOOM is the fastest spreading  email worm ever exceeding the previous records of ILOVEYOU and Sobig Worm. Earlier, many security firms believed that the worm was originated from Russia but the actual creater of the worm MYDOOM is still unknown.

3. YankeeDoodleMost Dangerous Computer Viruses

YankeeDoodle was originated from Bulgaria and was first discovered in the year 1989. This was similar to Vascina Virus and was created by TP. When the victims computer was infected by this virus, it became memory resident. It was able to infect all .com and .exe file extensions and would play a tune  “Yankee Doodle” at 1700 hours every day, till the time it resides in the memory.

4. MelissaMost Dangerous Computer Viruses

This is actually a macro virus, not a worm and was created by David L. Smith of New Jersey. This virus was based on Microsoft Word Macro and spread itself via email messages. The virus was named Melissa after an exotic dancer from Florida. When a user downloads thsi virus from email, this spreads itself to first 50 contacts of the victims mailing list. 

5. StuxnetMost Dangerous Computer Viruses

Stuxnet is a computer worm discoverd in 2010 by Kaspersky Labs. This worm was designed to target SCADA system and was mainly responsible for damaging Iran’s Nuclear Program. The worm was believed to be developed jointly by America and Israel.
