How to Jailbreak Your iPhone.

Jailbreaking your iOS device has always been a pastime for tinkerers and users who want a little more from their iPhone or iPad, though the practice has fallen out of favor as of late.

Why Would you Want to Jailbreak your iPhone?

Jailbreaking lets you do everything from customizing the look of your iPhone to installing third-party applications, which are titles that are not authorized and available in the App Store. A third-party app can add tons of functionality to your phone that you’d otherwise never see through the App Store. Jailbreak Your iPhone.

By default, on a non-jailbroken iPhone, app developers are not allowed to modify certain parts of the operating system. However, when the OS is entirely open to developers working on jailbroken apps, you can find apps that can completely redesign stock apps like Messages, add widgets to the lock screen, and much more.

Why Wouldn’t You Want to Jailbreak your iPhone?

For starters, once you jailbreak your phone, you’re entirely on your own since you may void the warranty you have with your carrier. This means that if something horrible happens to your phone, you can’t rely on AT&T, Verizon, or Apple to fix them.

Many users report an unstable or even completely disabled phone after they enable the jailbreak. This is another reason you might want to avoid jailbreaking your device.

Here’s the step-by-step guide below on how to jailbreak iOS 10.1 – iOS 10.1.1 using Yalu and Cydia Impactor

This jailbreak is compatible with the following devices:

  • iPhone 7, 7 Plus (iOS 10.1 and 10.1.1 only)
  • iPhone 6s, 6s Plus
  • iPad Pro
  • Yalu Jailbreak does not support the following iOS 10 compatible devices yet:
    • iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 5s, 5c, 5
    • iPad Air 2, iPad Air
    • iPad 4, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2
  • The jailbreak works only on the above iOS devices running iOS 10.1, 10.1.1 and 10.2.
  • If the jailbreak doesn’t work properly, you will have to restore the device to the latest iOS firmware, which is iOS 10.3.3 currently.

Step 1:

  1. Back up your iOS device. Head to Settings > iCloud > Backup and select “Back Up Now”.
  2. Disable the passcode on the device. Head to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and disable the passcode if you’re using one.
  3. Enable Airplane Mode: swipe up on the screen to open Control Center and tap the airplane icon.
  4. Ensure that the device has enough battery level for the jailbreak process to complete.

Step 2: Download the latest version of Yalu Jailbreak IPA and Cydia Impactor.

Download Cydia Impactor

Yalu jailbreak needs a companion GUI-based tool called Cydia Impactor, which you need to download on the computer to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Step 3: Double-click to open the Cydia Impactor .dmg file.

Step 4: Drag and drop it into the Applications folder and launch it.

Step 6: Next, connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer via USB.

Step 7: If Cydia Impactor recognizes your device, it will appear in the drop-down list as shown below.

Step 8: Drag and drop the Yalu IPA file onto Cydia Impactor.

Step 9: You will be asked to enter your Apple ID and password. This information will be sent to Apple only and is used to sign the IPA file.

Step 10: Once the app is installed on your device, you should see its icon on the Home screen labeled “mach_portal”.

Step 11: To launch the app, you must first trust the developer profile. To do so, go to Settings -> General -> Profiles & Device Management and tap on the profile that has your email address.

Step 12: Click the “Trust” button and confirm it.

Step 13: Go back to the Home screen and launch the “mach_portal” app.

Step 14: A white screen will be displayed for 15-20 seconds. This means that the jailbreak process has started. Do not do anything until the process is completed.

Step 15: Once the jailbreak completes successfully, the device will reboot automatically and Cydia should appear on the Home screen.Once you reboot, disable Airplane mode, open up Cydia, and you’re good to go.

Congrats, your device is now jailbroken! Cydia will take some time to perform the initial setup when you launch it for the first time. Additionally, this jailbreak is semi-tethered, which means that every time you restart your iOS device, you will have to launch the Yalu (mach_portal) app to re-jailbreak it.
