GOOGLE INVENTIONS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Google Inventions

There are many things GOOGLE has done other than creating a Search Engine and services like Gmail, Google+, Hangouts and Google Maps. The company has invested in almost every field in the field ranging from hardware devices(not so many) to software to developmental tools. There are many ongoing projects yet to be released and are planned to release in the near future. But some Google Inventions are there which is still unknown to many people.

1. X

Many people don’t know Google has a semi-secret research and developmental facility. It was founded in January 2010 by Google, as Google X and operates as a subsidiary of Alphabet.inc. X has its headquarters about a mile and a half from Google’s corporate headquarters, the Googleplex, in Mountain View, California. Work at X is overseen by entrepreneur scientist Astro Teller, as CEO and “Captain of Moonshots”.

While X projects are often referred to as “moonshots” within the company, not all so-described moonshots are part of X. For example, Calico, Google’s life extension project, is considered a moonshot but is not a part of X.

In mid-2014, Google said there were eight projects being developed at X. Some of them are as follows :

– Waymo (self-driving car)

– Loon

– Wing

– Glass

– Barge

2. Quick, Draw

It’s an online game developed by Google. It challenges players to draw a picture of an object or idea and then uses a neural network artificial intelligence to guess what the drawings represent. It’s actually quite interesting.

Find it on Google Play.

3. 3D Warehouse

The Sketchup 3D Warehouse is an open source library where anyone using SketchUp can upload and download 3D models to share. The models can be downloaded right into the program without anything having to be saved onto the user’s computer. File sizes of the models can be up to 50 MB. Anyone can make, modify, and re-upload content to and from 3D Warehouse free of charge.

The service was launched on April 22, 2015, for the Nexus 6 through invitations only and it was dropped later. It’s still active for Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.

Project Fi automatically switches between networks depending on signal strength and speed. It automatically connects to Wi-Fi hotspots with data encryption through an automatic VPN. Phone calls seamlessly transition between Wi-Fi and cellular networks and It covers more than 135+ places around the world.

5. Google Fuchsia

Fuchsia is a Real Time Operating System (RTOS) currently being developed by Google. It was first discovered as a mysterious code post on GitHub in August 2016, without any official announcement. In contrast to prior Google-developed operating systems such as Chrome OS and Android, which are based on Linux kernels, Fuchsia is based on a new microkernel called “Magenta”, derived from “Little Kernel”, a small operating system intended for embedded systems.

We will Update the post as New Google Inventions come up.

There are many Inventions and Services provided by Google and Projects still under Development which can make our Future better. Keep It UP, GOOGLE!

  1. I’m all for innovation, but I’m guessing Google’s big picture goal is to eventually take over the world.

Some of their stuff is absolutely mind-bending. I wonder just how much will make it into our lives in the same way as their search engine.
